A better score-line that the last outing against London Sussex and a vast improvement against a still very polished side, who play a very simple game. At times, particularly at the start of each half, Ealing 1871 had everything working for them and put great pressure on their opposition, however, the mantra of this is an 80-minute game rang out in the last 20 minutes, as Ealing 1871 appeared to generally run out of steam and London Sussex capitalised on each occasion to move the ball swiftly away from the contact areas and make gains.

Despite all of this education in simplicity, Ealing 1871 stuck at it, showed pride in the badge and bled green.

The hit of the day came from Kelvin Amankwaa after his kick-ahead chase and pretty much levelled his opposite number, before he could go a metre. This player had an opportunity in the second half to try and run around Kelvin, however, pride was the better part of valour and he passed the ball inside. Not deterred, Kelvin just hit his mate instead. His body undoubtably will be thanking him.

The 2-3 went to Adam Rodrigo, who was the smallest player on the pitch, but punched above his weight and constantly caused London Sussex problems in trying to get him down, so much so that they had to resort to doubling up on him. It didn’t always work.

Very well done!
