Verdict
A tough day at the office against a very polished university / old boys’ team, who were promoted last season after doing much the same against every opposition they faced. Clearly, they are looking forward to greater things this season.
As far as we were concerned, we let four great try scoring opportunities go, which would have given us something to take from the game. Our discipline was top drawer, against a very physical side, something we clearly need to address. However, particularly in the 2nd half, save for London Sussex capitalising on some of our last second errors, we kept them under some pressure for chunks of the half.
Kayci Bernard and Kelvin Amankwaa stood out, with both saving the day a number of times, with Kelvin adding to this by his very strong carrying.
A bit of work cut out for the physio’s…
If we did not step up, I would be quite annoyed at the score line, but as it stands, we did step up and faced them, so I’m not.
