Obituary

We have today 15th January 2022 received some sad news from George Duckworth.

"Just had a card from Adrian Jones' wife (Bev). Sadly he passed away with a heart attack on December 2nd.

Valedictory

Adrian was a lovely gentle man who had a devilish sense of humour. He shared a flat with Lyndon Foote in Ealing. (He survived that !!) He, Footie and I would always be found in the North Star. He had a nickname of "Hairdryer Jones'".

RIP Adrian
George Duckworth

A giant of a man. Adrian was a real gentleman. Great personality and a very humble man. Rest in peace Adrian. Great to know you. Sincere thoughts to your family.
Stephen Foot

Very sad news. Adrian was a lovely man, an ex shot-putter and a great tight head. He soon fell in with a bad crowd (Lyndon!) and frequented the North Star with the rest of us. Adrian had a very dry sense of humour. My favourite joke of his was: Two blokes walking down the road. One looks up at the sky and says “Is that the sun or the moon up there?” His mate says “I dunno, I’m not from round here”. Best told in a Welsh accent! Our condolences to his wife Bev, who was the only person he was scared of.
Dave Horne

Adrian and I shared a flat in Harrow. He was a smashing lad, very polite and very tidy ! We went to his wedding in Wales at a venue called The Ponderosa and visited him and Bev a few times. He had in earlier life overcome cancer and I am so sad to hear of his untimely death.
Paul Morgan

Very sad news, a very good man and as Dave Horne said to me 'The archetypal gentle giant'. We shared a flat in North Common Road, with hot and cold running water, most of the cold water running down the walls. A real Dump. On the Rugby field Adrian was a very, very good Tight Head Prop, probably of a higher standard than Ealing, at that time, but also very lazy, probably a worst trainer than me, honest. We used to use the Usha Indian Restaurant, a favourite of many of us who lived in Ealing at the time, Adrian and I, stupidly, always tried to out do each other about who could eat the hottest curry, they were mostly uneatable and eventually called a truce as we were obviously wasting money, and we also needed to eat something. I believe it was Paul Morgan who gave him the nickname Hairdryer, which was a play on the name Adrian in a welsh accent, Rest in Peace big man. and well done to Bev for saving him from us.
