Work On’s: (for coaches and captains)

  • Running alone, poor support lines
  • Back 3- Need to work on “Wings on strings.”
  • Line speed was poor for the first 60 minutes, once it improved the game turned completely.
  • 50/50 offloads
  • 2 on 1 opportunity squandered.
  • Lots of walking on D
  • Ref gave us countless warnings for high tackles

Positives:

  • Scrums were dominant. Our momentum slowed heavily when the scrums became uncontested due to injuries. This shows the impact and go-forward the scrums had.
  • Mauls were powerful, well-structured and effective.
  • Good line-out defense in the second half.
  • Backs ran good lines, Dicko made some good kicks however not chased effectively.
  • If I could ask one thing for the backline would be to play more into space and kick into space. Rather than kicking for touch to clear, we should be looking to kick the ball deep into space and chase it up hard looking to reclaim the ball/ force the error/ win a penalty deep in the opposition half.
