First half

Ealing dominated the first 15 minutes of the game in all aspects. After the second try in around the 7th minute we started standing off all the rucks with no one committing to our own rucks causing a couple of turn overs and a number of penalties for holding on due to becoming isolated on the one up runner's. We conceded 7 penalties within the first 27 minutes of the game.  We had a couple of tight heads but unfortunately they realised we would be pushing them off the ball all day so late in the first half the scrums went uncontested. and they dropped a player.

On a number of plays we should have just played pattern rugby but we over complicated things which in turn had us scrambling to get out of our red zone.

Second half

With the wind behind us we had a managed to keep them penned in their own half for long periods of time but again with a number of penalties for high tackles and not releasing we could not convert the pressure for the 18 minutes of the second half. We peaked with 3 penalties within 3 minutes which gifted Hackney 2 tries.

Summary

Ealing had a much better side in all aspects of the game but stand-off rucks and one up runners just never gave us the platform to play some pattern rugby which would have given us the opportunity to put another 20 points on them. I do think we had been hard done by with the amount of off side in the loose not picked up by the ref. Some hard hitting and try saving tackles with the boys putting 100%

Had Hackney been any better the 14 penalties would have crucified us.

Leighton Price picked up a yellow card.
