Valedictory

On Monday 12th December we received some tragic news about our friend and fellow club member Richard Bull ("Bully"), who died in an accident at his home on Sunday.
Bully was an outstanding asset to our club; a friendly, compassionate and funny guy who will be sorely missed.
We are shocked and devastated that such a good man has been taken away from us too soon.
Bully's Mum & Dad are looking after his lovely wife, Tanya at this terrible time. They will be in touch with the funeral details as soon as possible, which will be posted here.

Richard was a personal friend of mine, and was a pleasure to play both against and with. He would play in any position without giving it a second thought. By profession he was a number 8, but would happily play any front five position, and even helped out at scrum half. He stepped back from nothing and left everything on the pitch for whichever side he was playing for. We became friends when he was captain of OA’s IIs many years ago, as my opposite man. He was part of the Exiles side that won the Northolt Tournament in April 2013, and can be seen bottom right in this team shot, showing his usual enthusiastic happy self. Rugby was one of his loves, and if he wasn’t playing for OAs or we were playing a tournament and he could make it he would turn out for The Exiles.

We are hoping when all this madness is over and things are back to normal, the game will go ahead.

On Saturday 28th March 2020 Actonians were due to play Ealing in the memorial game for the “Bully” Cup. An annual game played in memory of club legend Richard Bull who sadly passed away following a tragic accident in December 2016.

Due to Coronavirus and the cancellation of all Rugby, the game unfortunately didn’t go ahead but that didn’t prevent Richard’s friends and family from coming together “virtually” at 2.45pm to celebrate with a pass of a rugby ball and toast the man himself.

We are hoping when all this madness is over and things are back to normal, the game will go ahead.
