Valedictory

The inimitable Sam Larkin died in November, having been in decline over the past few years. One of the depleted band of pre-war members, Sam joined the Cub in 1932 and became a legend in his lifetime; one of the characters of the rugby world.

Gaining his 1st XV cap in 1947, he was appointed a Vice President in 1949, eventually becoming President from 1963-66.

He was for several years our Middlesex representative, supporting our interests in the County organisation.

A leader of men, on and off the field, Sam became a Company Commander in the Lincolnshire Regiment during the war and was awarded the Military Cross for bravery in action fighting in Germany.
