Obituary
End of Season Newsletter 1964.
Gordon died suddenly in August at Eastbourne, at the age of 69. He joined the Club in 1932 from Bancroft's School and he soon made his mark as a wing-three quarter and was in the 1st and "A" XV during the middle thirties, his cap has dates all round.
After the war he was a force in the Club's re-forming and became an excellent Captain of the Club in 1949/50/51. He left the district in the 1950's and so became lost to the Club for administration purposes but he always turned up for Dinner/Dances etc, a member who would have made a marvellous President.
He finally settled in Eastbourne and became Deputy Mayor of that Borough after 4 years on the Council.
Our sympathies go out to Grace and their son and daughter.

Gordon Powell I personally remember as the first Ealing player for me to see and speak to, when as a young lad just up from Wales, I discovered the Green & White jersey in Gunnersbury Park. He struck me then as a courteous gentlemen, a view which I am sure was shared by all who knew him.
