Valedictory

Bernard Woelfel, who served in the Free French Navy during the war, passed on in August after a relatively short illness. Bernard joined the Club in 1973, prompted by the playing activities of his son Martin and was a staunch supporter and indefatigable worker on behalf of the Club. A familiar figure behind the bar and on the touchline, he was also an enthusiastic tourist with the Club and was, on several occasions, our mediator when problems arose with French authorities questioning some of our activities.

His services to the Club were recognised when he was appointed a Vice-President in 1981.
