The Cougars started well, scoring a try in the first 5 minutes but then spurned a series of scoring opportunities due to poor play and bad decisions in key areas. The Cougars only real telling passage of play resulted in another score and The Cougars finished the half 10 - 0.

Merlins started the second half better than the Cougars and scored a quick try under the posts to make the score 10 - 7. The Cougars responded and score a well worked try in the corner quickly followed by another one. Merlins got another try back before the Cougars finished the scoring with another well taken try, making the final score 25 - 12.

The Cougars will need to improve dramatically for next week when they face Rosslyn Park in an important league clash.
