Sirs
I would like to inform Ealing RFU about the passing of Mike Berry on 21/05/2023. Mike was from Galway Ireland and enjoyed many seasons with Ealing in the 70’s before returning to his home town and continue his playing career at Corinthians in Galway and indeed was voted their president for the 2010/11 season.
I thought I would let you know in case you are aware of any old boys that may have played with him that would like to know of his passing.
His funeral will be in Galway on Friday. Any one can contact me at the above email or

Peter Berry (nephew)
Valedictory
With the passing of Mick Berry, fondly known as Berso, the city lost a true authentic Galwegian. Originally from Galway’s Middle Street, Mick was man with principles of toughness and loyalty carried with a unique humour.
He carried those qualities with pride and distinction in a Corinthians jersey. As a 19-year-old, he won his first junior cup playing at fullback. He subsequently spent some years in London where he was the regular inside centre for Ealing R F C.
Returning to Galway in 1974, Berso was legendary, not only because of the longevity of his playing career, but for the fact that he played in almost every position on the pitch. Fullback, centre, outhalf, backrow, hooker and prop.
It was as a player/coach/manager/selector of the 3rds that he developed his own unique team fondly known as Bersos Babes.
His black ragged notepad that he kept, containing the personal data of over 40 players, would test the decoding skills of any expert.
However his group of not so young babes were very successful in their pursuit of silverware. Mike filled his team with characters that would not be amiss on the stage of Druid.
He became a rainbow in the lives of his Babes. The stories that emanated from this group are legendary at Corinthians RFC. As WhatsApp overloaded at the news of his sad passing, it was plain to see that is rainbow brought colour to both young and old in the club.
Mike Berry was an outstanding and loyal servant to Galway Corinthians RFC and it was with great pride he served as club President in 2011.
Bersos’ go-to party piece was Sweet Chariot and so, with Corinthians close and regular correspondence with St Paul, the club hopes his angels are coming to carry him home.
Corinthians thanks him for all the wonderful memories he created over the years, ensuring that he will always be remembered as a true legend.
May his gentle soul Rest In Peace in his final resting place at Forthill Cemetery.
Mike is predeceased by his beloved Madge, his parents Peter and Bridie and his brothers Sean, Des and Frank. Dearly loved brother of Mary, Jim, Aidan and Ray. Sadly missed by his loving family, his nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, extended family, neighbours and a wide circle of friends. He will be reposing in O’Flaherty’s Funeral Home, Munster Avenue, Galway today (Thursday ), May 25, from 4pm. Removal at 6pm to St. Augustine’s Church, Middle Street, Galway. Requiem Mass tomorrow (Friday ), at 12 noon. Funeral afterwards to Forthill Cemetery.
