Obituary
Sid Webber is saddened to announce the death of his wife Ruth who passed away peacefully in Salisbury Hospice on Friday 9th August aged 67 after a long and brave fight with cancer.
Back in the late eighties/nineties Ruth became fed up with seeing her husband disappear on a Saturday afternoon, not returning for hours and hours so she decided to find out was he was up to. This led to her volunteering to join the brigade of 'rugby widows' preparing the post-match teas at the old clubhouse in Berkeley Avenue back in the day when the choice was pasty, pasty or pasty. Ruth was a proud Welsh girl who loved rugby and soon made friends amongst the many Welsh members EFC had in those days. Many lifelong friendships were made during that time and I'm sure many of the older members will remember those days fondly - if not the pasties.
There will be no funeral but a celebration of Ruth's life will be held in the near future.
