Ealing Cougars finished the regular season top of the Merit table with a superb win over Hammersmith & Fulham.

The Cougars scored 5 tries against a very strong Hammersmith & Fulham side in what was one of the most complete performance against one of the favourites to win the league and last season's runners up.

The Cougars started the game at a fast pace and put Hammersmith & Fulham under all sorts of pressure. After a good passage of play with some very good phases and slick hands, Ed Joyce went over for the first try. Andy Jack converted and the Cougars were off and running. The Cougars pressed their advantage and after great play from the forwards Oli Miller broke down the blindside to touch down in the corner.
The cougars were in total command of the game and after more pressure No.8 Des Crinion raced in for the first of his two tries.

After another period of pressure Hammersmith & Fulham kicked the ball downfield. The ball was fielded by Owen Price who then scored the try of the gameĀ running from the half way line, jinking past five players to score.

At halftime the score was 22 - 3 to the Cougars.

The second half started with Hammersmith & Fulham applying a lot of pressure without any breakthrough. The Cougars were in complete control of the gameĀ and should've scored more tries. Des Crinion had two tries disallowed and Braddan Webber also had one disallowed before Des Crinion got his second try. Hammersmith & Fulham rallied and had the final say with a penalty try awarded after an infringement by the Cougars.

The Final Score 27 - 10 to the Cougars which avenged one of only two loses this season.
